Mozilla Minimo v0.2 Mobile Web Browser

Last week Mozilla unveiled the 0.2 version of its Mobile browser Minimo. Nevertheless, 0.2 might be the last Minimo version. The probable reason for it is the extremely low number of users (1% of users connect to the Internet via mobile devices) and tough market conditions.

Minimo 0.2 gives quite a fast access to the Internet via the Homebase start page, social bookmarking and tabbed browsing. The creators also claim that Minimo provides the users with superb support for Javascript and Ajax. Moreover the browser supports a great number of modern technologies as RSS (Really Simple Syndication), GPS (Global Positioning System), widgets and extensions. The browser is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0.

The product’s official preview says that the page loading speed has been increased by 25% comparing to the previous versions. In addition to that Minimo can load pages with multiple links. The RAM usage has also increased accordingly: now it is 13.5 Mb (the previous version used about 7Mb). Other shortcomings of the browser include the loss of Windows Mobile 2003 (SE) compatibility, page saving, link target, direct link copying to the clipboard.
