Yahoo Takes Advantage over Google: Mobile Web Advertising Network
About a week ago Yahoo launched its mobile advertising network for cellular phones. The network was created to enable advertising on Yahoo’s mobile services and other company’s sites.
At the moment the network includes MobiTV (Yahoo’s video service for mobile phones), Opera (web browser), Go2 (a Yellow Pages site). As you see, the networks cannot be called huge and developed one at the moment, but Yahoo plans to expand it over next months.
Yahoo started the network in order to allow publishers and advertisers develop the mobile internet. The company plans to include text, display and video adds on third-party web-sites by summer.
The network isn’t the only tool Yahoo is using in mobile web at the moment. Of all huge internet companies Yahoo seems to be the first that saw the attraction of the new area. The have launched a mobile search engine called oneSearch, which enables the users to search for weather reports and sport scores without scrolling the extra-long list of sites.
Yahoo has been definitely overtaken by Google in internet search, so mobile web seems to be the only way for the company to restore its positions and win the market.
The Ad site itself was created for publishers’ one-stop shopping.
