Banner adds dominate mobile advertising at the moment. And it is no wonder, because this type of advertising is intuitive and easy for both consumers and buyers to understand.

For example, one of the mobile sites that uses banner adds quite successfully is The Weather Channel (the site was the third popular mobile web-page in December, and the second in November). Louis Gump, vice president of the company claims: “We can put a banner on a page and have consumers click-through to a destination. The mobile web is more flexible and similar to the PC, so it’s an easier transition for ad buyers.”

Nevertheless Gump considers mobile web to some sort of catalyst for mobile advertising. He says that the most profitable way to advertise via mobile phone is text messaging (especially the ones that use Internet to connect the users). At the same time Gump says that not many companies have the same faith in this kind of advertising, because it requires a different mindset. Gump give the ideal model of text messaging adds: short and concise, just a little more than just a word or two. What for the video adds, Gump believes it is theĀ  kind of adds to come, but he claims that there’s a lot to be done, especially on the length of the videos (15 seconds or less). And another aspect is the audience. Big brands will come into the branch only when the audience is big, but now it only the matter of time.
