comScore has recently conducted a new study. It revealed that 2 out 3 mobile TV subscribers are male under 35. Another result of the study: cost and quality are the primary concerns. The mobile TV customers are interested in local news, dramas and movies.

Serge Matta, senior vice president of comScore Telecom Solutions, says:

“While the use of Mobile TV is a growing trend among mobile phone users, its current devotees appear to be the early adopters of new technologies. As is the case with the majority of technology lifecycles, early adopters include many younger and male consumers. Once the early adopters have had a chance to fully engage with the technology and share their experiences with friends, relatives and colleagues, Mobile TV is substantially more likely to reach a critical mass in the marketplace.”

According to the study cost of service is the major consideration for the users (71%); still 67% said they don’t mind watch sponsored advertisement as long as the subscription is free. 64% of the respondents enjoy the idea of having a trial period before submitting to the service.

Another wise step it to aim at the male audience. 59% of male respondents don’t use mobile TV. Nevertheless the idea of mobile TV contents like beauty tips, relationships, parenting, and all about celebration of femininity seems to be rather popular with them.
