A small New-York company ShopText has recently launched a new shopping system, which is rather different to that of Amazon.com and Become.com - the system is based on SMS or text messages.

The company takes all the customers’ orders, charges their credit cards ans ships the goods. To start using the service a buyer must call ShopText and create an account specifying the address and card number. After that one can make purchases via mobile device.

The service might also help improve the effectiveness of magazines as marketing vehicles. Sellers can get the information on how many people click on their advertisements. In its turn ShopText is able to tell which shops generate the most sales.

The main question is whether the service will be able to settle down in the area or will be just a short-lived innovation.

Another question concerns shopping in general: will mobile shopping erode the traditional shopping experience. Some claim that shopping is all about the journey, but not the destination. So you see, the answer to these questions are a matter of time.
