Mobile Search - The Truth

Nowadays almost every human being has some kind of mobile device, which make the area of mobile search one of the most attractive and highly profitable in the world.

Simplicity has been the basic feature of search-related services (Google, Digg, Delicious, Flickr). The same thing seems to be working with the mobile web. If a service proves to be simple, it might get ahead of the others.

Opus Research report by Dan Miller and Greg Sterling says:

The spoken word is the most natural way to initiate mobile searches – For safety reasons in the short-term, and convenience in the long-term, the seamless integration of a speech-based interface should take hold.

The mobile web will also start with search (just as PC-web does today) so the metaphor works here as well.

Google and Microsoft went even further. They have realized the benefits of voice directory assistance. With their Ask.com and TellMe Networks (Google’s and Microsoft’s accordingly) the companies provide a wide variety of voice services and assistance. Bill Gates believes that mobile search will lead to the end of the Yellow Pages.

So, as seen from the above, the major key to the mobile market is to make the search as close to the simplicity of alphabetized index as possible.
