Global Industry Analysts has published a report predicting the development of the mobile gaming market. They predict it to reach $20 billion by 2010. It means more than 58% of growth over the decade. Compared to predictions by other companies its looks both exaggerated and underestimated. E.g. Gartner predicted the market to reach $9.6 billion by 2011, at the same time iSuppli published a report establishing $44 billion by 2011.
GIA supposes that java-based and Bluetoth games will increase their experience in delivering the product to the customers:
“Globally, Europe is the largest wireless gaming market and is estimated to account for about 43 percent share of the global market by the year 2007. Rest of World comprising Canada, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin American regions is projected to be the fastest growing wireless gaming market, with a compounded annual rate of about 77 percent during the ten-year analysis period.”
It is also mentioned that:
- Downloadable games will overtake subscription ones in popularity hitting $10.7 billion by 2009 at CAGR of 150%
- The messaging-based gaming services are expected to reach $2.1 billion by 2008
