Sprite Software Ltd. has announced Sprite Mobile Swipe 1.0, the latest content protection app for Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 devices.

The software protects the data on your phone from unauthorized access in case of a loss or a theft.

They include address books, organizers, e-mail clients, photo stores and even tools to create and edit documents and presentations. The content you have in your phone might be very useful to you thus very interesting to someone else. You see that phone loss or theft might turn out to be a real disaster for an individual.

Once installed, the software hides in the background until activated via SMS. When the owner sends SMS the phones locks down so that a password is required to access the data. If the password is not enough the owner can send a command in order to erase all the data in the phone (including memory cards). It the mobile device is stolen and the thief replaces SIM-card, Sprite Mobile Swipe detects it and send SMS to the owner’s previously partnered phone. The software includes the option to remotely query the phone for recent call activity as this may help track down the phone.
