US Mobile Users Rarely Use Their Phones for More than Calling

Harris Interactive has conducted a poll among 4,123 adults. The results have showed that 49% mobile phone owners in the US use their devices for more than just calling. The figure includes messaging (SMS, MMS e.t.c.)
Some other figures are the following:
- Sending/receiving SMS: 38% women; 33% men
- Taking/receiving/sending photos: 27% women; 21% men
- Checking e-mail: 7% women; 12% men
- Accessing the Internet for other purposes than search and download: 5% women; 11% men
- Searching mobile Internet with search engines: 6% women; 9% men
The has poll also revealed that 57% of users believe that they will use their devices for more than voice communication by 2010. In general people tend to use some new services less because they simply don’t see the benefits.
