The 5 Most Important Words on your Mobile Page

Looking through the articles focused on advertising matters, I came round quite a peculiar article under the title “The Five Most Important Words on your Web Site“. Thinking for a while I decided to imply the technique for mobile usage. In general, the principles of offline and online advertising have a few similar sides, although they differ greatly. And what is common for online advertising might be as well a working strategy for mobile advertising.

That is the way I see “The five Most Important Words on your Mobile page”. The first thing that comes to my mind is that a single word without proper content, no matter how “strong” it is, doesn’t cost a thing. But if placed properly it can become a real magnet for potential customers.

No 1 - FREE

I agree that some words are equally important in online and offline (and in mobile) advertising. This is exactly the case with FREE. If placed in the right surroundings, the word is really worthless.

At the same time we see these FREES everywhere on the Internet. But how can we make the word work in mobile advertising. Take some examples:

  • Free ringtones
  • Free logos
  • Free videos
  • Free games

This is just the beginning of the list. For online marketing the word “free” seems to be very popular (Google -1.9 million suggestions; Yahoo – 5 million). But there is another peculiar usage for the word in the mobile word – the local one. Mobile advertising is heading towards targeted ads, so if we know what a person is interested in, we can know for sure, what he will be glad to receive for free! Isn’t that great? No spam or whatsoever, just the things you want and like.

No 2 – Sign UP

In online advertising you aim is to get the user’s e-mail address in order to send prospects and ads. In mobile advertising the picture is almost the same, but your aim is to get the user’s mobile number is order to sent text ads, plus, of course, e-mail matters as well as it can be read on the go.

No 3 – BUY

The article says that the word catches the users’ attention and forces them to act. This is true for the mobile word as well. The word must be placed correctly and in this case it is quite important.

No 4 - NOW

Now is extremely important for mobile content. Immediate action is the thing that is crucial on the go:

Sign up NOW

Buy NOW

Tell a friend NOW

The article mentions the combination of important words. To my mind it is a great idea. If we don’t overcrowd a phrase with such words, the effect might be astonishing:

Buy smth NOW and get smth FREE

No 5 – THANK YOU

Don’t be afraid to thank you customers!

I really liked a phrase in the article: “Just because someone signs up for your newsletter doesn’t mean that they will read it.” A good advice is to be personal and thank every single user for just coming to your site. This will help you build great relations with the user and force him to come back for another purchase.
