Thoughts on mobile marketing future

Mobile web and advertising promise to become even more precise and valuable tool for marketing specialists compared to Internet where you can measure efficiency of ALL your marketing campaigns in detail. Cell advertising provides even deeper details as you know EVERYTHING about your audience – their age, sex, address, references, etc… So you can tailor extra targeted message for EACH group you send your cell message/ sms.

Do you want any proof? As a result of some recent testing, 10% of the targeted audience took the desired action once reached with mobile advertising.

There are some concerns of this marketing technique – many brands draw a line comparing it to e-mil SPAM. But e-mail spamming issue was to some extent resolved with anti-SPAM act (at least in the United States – now no reputable hosting company will tolerate any complaint that they send out spammy messages from their servers). Added to that, now marketers have experience with e-mail marketing and it is up to them to make their cell advertising be spam-compliant.

Most common sample of mobile marketing is sms marketing. It is extra cheap for the advertiser (but more expensive if you still compare this technique to e-mail marketing).

Will mobile marketing result in a boom of mobile shopping with mobile billing? Hard to say. But in my opinion it is likely to happen within 2-4 years. It took us time to get used to e-commerce advantages. Cell phones unlike Internet are even more deeply spread all over the world. So from this point mobile marketing has even better prospects than e-commerce!
