AOL Launches a Number of New Mobile Services

The company AOL is planning to launch a few new mobile services including the service MyAOL and the modernized page of the site AOL.com for mobile devices.

According to Scott Falconer, executive vice-president, AOL Mobile, the beta-version of AOL mobile has been online since September, and now the final version has been released. The mobile version offers sport and entertainment news and content that can be found in a desktop version of the site.

Moreover, AOL mobile offers mobile search which works as a search engine for a mobile user. It means that if you search for music, the top of the search will give you ringtones. At the same time the engine is able to find mobile-adapted pages and ranks them higher in the query. Falconer added that the search results will also feature paid catalogues.

According to the info provided by the company itself, MyAOL, the fully-adjustable home-page, will be available for mobile users. In other words, you will get access to your PC version of MyAOL via mobile Internet.

Another AOL service is shopping service. One can enter the bar-code of a certain product and get all the available info on the product plus approximate process for it in different shops with the addresses and phones of the latter.

Still another news service launched by AOL is the download client MyMobile. The service, initially available only for the owners of Windows Mobile powered devices, enables easy download and usage of all the AOL services, for instance, mail, MapQuest, CityGuide – all in a single mobile application.
