Who Else Wants the Latest Mobile Service by Nokia, Benefon and UBC?

Cliq - Instant Music Buying Service

The British company UBC Media Group launches the mobile service Cliq which will enable the listeners of the digital radio DAB to purchase tracks that they listen to online with the help of their mobile devices. The tracks can be purchased by pressing a few buttons on your phone.

According to Telegraph, at the moment the users have to download the special application Cliq, but from the next year on this application will be pre-installed on digital receivers. The application gives out the list of the latest 5 songs played by each radio station. In order to purchase a track one has to click on it and it will be downloaded to his PC. The cost of one track is 1.25 pounds which is much higher than 79 pence – the price of iTunes’ services.

For the devices with preliminary setting, UBC has singed up an agreement with Pure, the company that sells 40% from the total number of radio-players in the UK. In order to cover the expenses UBC has to get at least 500 000 users who must buy at least 3 tracks per month.

The profit from purchasing tracks is split between radio stations, record labels and device manufacturers. In fact, the service is similar to Nokia’s Visual Radio which is built-in the latest models. But in contrast to Nokia’s service (which works on the devices made by the company only) Cliq will work on 85% of the devices supporting Java.

GyPSii by Nokia and Benefon

Benefon, the Finnish manufacturer of mobile phones, which concentrated on producing GPS-phone even before they got such a wide spread, has singed an agreement with Nokia. According to Reuters, the goal of collaboration – install the social networking service GyPSii (based on the determination of location of the subscriber) on the models Nokia N95 and Nokia 6110.

Benefon, that has recently changed its name to GeoSentric, has received the investment of $13 million, purchased the application GyPSii earlier this year. The novelty enables to upload images, video and sound tracks recorded with the help of mobile devices.

At the same time the service automatically determines where the content was recorded and the location of your friends.
