Location-Based Mobile Services: My Location and MizPee
Google is introducing the new system of mobile maps which uses cellular connection towers to inform its users about the nearest shops, refuelling stations without having to enter their names into the search bar. The new service My Location by Google is new tested in the USA and its goal is to increase the percentage of using mobile services no matter if the users’ phones are equipped with GPS-chipsets.
With the help of My Location, Google Maps system for mobile devices automatically informs the user about their location on the map. In order to see his/her approximate location on the mao the user presses “0″ button. Google offers the service for free, but for the US users only at the moment. It is planned that eventually the company will offer the local advertising that will be able to use the advantages of location-based services. Google’s service has been developed independently from mobile operators.
It uses various algorithms for the determination of the approximate location of the phone relative to the nearest cellular towers. The service is based on the tower base that Google has gathered using anonymous data from mobile signals from the previous users of Google Maps in order to help My Location users determine their location.

Want to have a pee? The new mobile service MizPee will help you find out where the nearest toilet is. The company Yojo Mobile has launched MizPee 2.0 in huge American cities. The application works on various platforms and will lead a user to the place he/she needs by using the comments and rating of “friends in need.” A user can access the service through WAP and get all the info about the best toilet near his location.
The page enables to add new info about closets, its reviews and ratings; learn news and keep in touch with the best and the worst toilets in city.
Moreover, there is a button for blogs and social networks including Facebook and MySpace. The cities that are covered by the service are – Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los-Angeles, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Oakland, Portland, San-Francisco, San-Hose, Seattle, Toronto and Washington DC.
Since the release of the beta version of the service in June 2007, the site has been visited by 1.4 million users and it has helped 100 000 users. The function of SMS support is being developed at the moment and its released is to take place at the beginning of the following year
