The Golden Boy’s general director shared with ESPN.com the idea that negotiations between four-division champion Floyd Mayweather and six-division world champion Oscar De la Hoya, whose first fight in the spring 2007 set a record for the handle, are near to meeting the end. He admits that the official announcement is soon to come.
The rematch is appointed foe 13 or 20 of September. Still the place to hold the fight is not set yet – probably it will take place either at Home Depot Center or Los Angeles Galaxy for 2700 seats.
Taking in account the greatest success of the first fight it was difficult to turn down the idea of a rematch.
There is a great buzz around Mayweather vs De La Hoya tickets for the rush and the interest of the match has beaten all possible records.
Oscar De La Hoya was planning to come back to the ring on 3 of May but didn’t find a partner.
After Hatton’s defeat Floyd became the most profitable trial for De La Hoya.
The main intrigue is that it was decided that Mmayweather senior will train De La Hoya for the match with hi own son. The boxer says: “The feeling of a great hunger came back. It will make a great difference with Mayweather senior in my corner. Now when I have particular experience (the latest match with Mayweather junior) and he ( Mayweather senior) has shown m several tricks which will help to fight over his son. He is with me for 100 per cent. I’ve already started to train and so far was successful in it - I’m sure I’ll be able to win”
