The literary world is amazed! A book has been written on a mobile device. Italian author Robert Bernocco has written a book and published it on Lulu.com.
European Vice President of Lulu.com, Cristel Lee Leed, commented:
“We live in an age when individuals are strapped for time due to work and family
commitments, and this can often stifle creativity. Robert Bernocco is a great
example of the type of author we often encounter on Lulu - he has not only
been creative with what he has written but also with how he has written it!”
Bernocco was writing his book while travelling to and from his work by train. The science fiction novel features 384 pages. Nokia 6630 with its T9 system was used to write the thing.
The book is written in Italian is short paragraphs. Bernocco was writing and saving the book on his phone. After that he downloaded the draft to the PC, proofread it and download to lulu.com. It took Bernocco 17 weeks to finish the novel.
Bernocco says:
“Only a few years ago I would have struggled to find both the time and
the publisher to enable me to create this book. Thanks to my
Nokia and Lulu, I am now proud to be a published author.”
Robert Bernocco lives near Cuneo, northern Italy, with his wife and son. He works in the IT industry in Piedmont.
Bernocco’s book can be found here

YouTube is the most popular video service over the Internet, so almost any software that makes watching the videos more convenient might be rather useful.
Hubdog with the latest TCPMP Plugin for flash video enables you to subscribe to an RSS and watch the movies as a podcast.
The service works quite simply: you collect a number of subscriptions and in the end have lots of 320×240 clips that don’t need further conversion.
Still if you are not used to the normal Hubdog, the beta might seem awkward to you as the user interface is a quirky one.
The thing that is worth doing is adding YouTube channels while using PC or a laptop, because it will be much easier to copy and paste them when using a mobile device.
Mobile version of YouTube offers only some of the videos (not all) while Hubdog and TCPMP Plugin for Flash Video enables watching ALL of them.

It is generally regarded that European phone technology is way more developed than American. Still the difference in 3G device penetration between the US and Europe is not that big: 16% and 20% accordingly.
One of UK mobile operators - 3 - is singled out for its approach towards mobile adv: its videos are entirely ad-supported (in both pre-roll and post-roll formats). At the same time the other UK operators charge extra for TV series. Some of the huge market players that have already come into the market are Cisco, Microsoft, Intel, and Unilever (the latter is actually experimenting with targeted advertisement i.e. when a antiperspirant ads are to come only to young women).
Compared to other operators, the 3 ads are more expensive based on the audience size. It charges $141 CPM while the average rates are $20 CPM.
The service is not popular with all the users: some 25% were put off by the ad-supported service. As a new entrant in the market, 3 was eager to break mobile business models - most significantly it was the first 3G operator to offer users a flat-rate data service to encourage usage, something that other operators are finally starting to roll out.
At the moment all the major mobile operators with 3G networks are starting to offer video ads as well: Telecom Italia, T-Mobile, Vodafone.
